Bridals by Philvens is a full-service bridal “One Stop Shop”. We have beautiful wedding gowns, tuxedos, gloves, veils, jewelry, shoes, flowers, gift baskets, foundations, flower girl dresses, mother’s dresses, invitations, rentals, special occasion dresses and alterations. We also specialize in full-figure gowns.
Bridals by Philvens have been in business since 1992. This is our 6th consecutive year advertising in the Black Pages edition serving Akron, Canton, Youngstown and Warren. We began advertising in Black Pages so that African-Americans would know that there was a new bridal shop in town we they can purchase wedding gowns and accessories.
Our current major business success is that Bridals by Philvens is the only African-American owned bridal shop in Akron, Ohio and is successfully in business. The vision I have for Bridals by Philvens is to move from the mall into my own establishment.
My advice for first time business start-ups…”Commitment! You have to be totally committed to your business and ready to give up your livelihood. Make sure you have done what it is you want to do in life, because your “extra- time” may be limited for a while.”
